Do I Know Enough?
I was so proud when I joined Ernst & Young. On my first day, they handed me a box of cards giving me the title of Senior Consultant. I remember thinking, senior to what? I had graduated from college just a few years earlier and didn’t feel senior to anyone.
Fortunately, working for this prestigious, global firm was like receiving a graduate degree. They taught me the skills I needed to become an expert. It boiled down to not what I knew, but what I was willing to learn.
If you intend to embark on a successful career, you must be a lifelong learner. The moment you stop is the moment you begin to fall behind.
I have been told I can technically run circles around most 25-year-olds. It’s funny to note that when I started my career, I was afraid of technology. But instead of allowing fear to paralyze me, it motivated me to buckle down and learn everything I could.
How about you, where do you stand on your learning journey? Have you grown complacent? Set a new education target, maybe 2-4 books a year, 1-2 classes or whatever that looks like for you on your personal journey.
