Spend Less Time Recruiting
Recruiting employees is time-consuming, but there are approaches you can take to reduce the work. One time-consuming step is screening candidates. Let me suggest three approaches to save time.
- Hire recruiters that screen candidates for you.
- Access cloud services that help screen for you.
- Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) can help you screen candidates.
If you choose a recruiter who screens, make sure you understand their approach. Some just give lip service to screening and you end up with unqualified candidates, or worse, they screen out excellent candidates. If you’re a small company, I like this service because you can tailor the screening specifically to your needs. But there is a high cost which is usually based on a percentage of the candidate’s first year compensation – the average is 20%.
Cloud based systems usually reside on candidate resume sites. Research these sites to identify the best one to meet your needs. In order of popularity, some sites are LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, CareerBuilder and ZipRecruiter.
ATS systems are my personal favorite. They are particularly helpful if you have an HR team that wants to manage and control the entire process. These systems give you access to cloud based recruiting sites, screening tools, and tracking features that help you track your candidates throughout the hiring process. Once a candidate is selected, the ATS system will then help you set up the new employee in your HR system.
