Living Large – Small Business, Large Image

High Rise Buildings - large and small business

There is no shame in being a start-up or small business. Every large business was once small. But just because you are small, you don’t have to appear that way to your customers.

Business owners often believe that projecting a large image is expensive, and fortunately that’s not true. Remember, your desire is to create a positive emotional impression for your customer. And there are plenty of ways you can do that inexpensively.

Most customers have come to expect great quality in the businesses they choose. They’re discerning. In other words, they notice little things like the quality of your email, your invoice, website, equipment, and facilities.

It always bothers me when I see a delivery truck for a large brand that is dirty and in need of a trip to the carwash. If you drove by a billboard that was covered in dirt, what would you think? A dirty truck communicates that same message – I don’t care.

As an owner, you must care about all the details, no matter how small. When customers see that you are attentive to the little things, they will have confidence that you can provide good services and products. What’s that old saying? “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

It’s in the details like branding your emails, uniforms, and equipment. Your billing system needs to be accurate and professional looking, as well. These days, it’s relatively inexpensive to make an eye-catching website just as the larger companies do.

Technology is another way to make a small company look larger than it is. When it comes to your business, live large.
